The One Where Gillian Launches a Board Game

My blogs are about all kinds of things. Writing. Reading. Life. Issues. Lots of things. Today, I want to chat about why in the heck I am launching a board game.

Thanks in large part to Ryn and Kevin of The Castle Beverly, I have become obsessed with board games in the last few years. The strategic element excites me…and I’m a bit competitive. Given that I have no athletic prowess, this leaves me with different areas to compete in. Thus, board games!

And up until recently, I really didn’t know that I could make a board game myself. I had never tried! But of course, then I met Dave and Samantha Petrie, the creators of No Regerts (not a typo), and that all changed! I credit these two inspiring humans (one of which is an author and the other who is someone that can…create anything), gave me the push to create Microfeast©.

What the holy cheese sticks is Microfeast©? It’s a strategy game that plays a bit like Sorry with a board built a bit like Betrayal at House on the Hill. The object is to harvest enough food items of different types to create your own micro feast! But, there are stipulations…

You must be prepared to deal with predators!

You must outsmart your competitors (other small and adorable, yet surprisingly resourceful little animals)!

You must play to your unique strengths!

My husband Brenton, is creating the artwork for this game, for which he will be given a large stake in the profits, should there ever be any. We are planning to pitch this game at PAX East’s Pitch a Board Game in 60 Seconds!! this very year!

Now, ideally, I would love to produce this game with an established company. Several will be there Shark Tank-style, so that’s my plan…

But, if that doesn’t work out, I am committed to creating this game anyway.

Do you want to help me create it? Send a tweet referencing this blog to @TychoBrahe and @cwgabriel, because that would help me win a pretty high-stakes bet with @CopperFrogGames (they want those two to endorse my, yet to be launched game BEFORE Pax East in a couple of weeks).

I’ll send you a gif of thanks for EVERY person that does this…

Here, I even made a tweet for you (click it, it’s Tweetable!)

Hey @TychoBrahe and @cwgabriel - this crazy girl is trying to win an impossible bet with @CopperFrogGames…help her out? https://bit.ly/2VRd5Nw
